Magical??
Cats? Why not us? Definitely an impossible question to answer, but the fact is that cats are indeed magical. Just somewhere along the lines, God decided to give cats amazing agility and body morphing, while us humans were stuck with arthritic joints. Seriously? While I can't answer how the heck cats were able to evolve into the creatures they are today, I can feel jealous while I look at all of their amazing traits.
Cats' Abilities
Based on clear cut evidence (link below post), cats obviously are shown to have numerous traits that definitely seem magical. But first, I really think we need to take a look at all of the evidence. There are a few simple reasons why cats are better than humans.
One, cats are better short-distance runners than the fastest human being, Usain Bolt. Widely regarded as the fastest human on the planet, he is known to sprint at speeds of 23 miles per hour. However, even domestic cats can run at tops 30 miles per hour. Cats also have agile leaping abilities, as they possess the ability to jump almost five times their height (equivalent of a human jumping 30 feet)! Humans may have keen eyesight, but cats have unrivaled peripheral vision, as their vision can encompass a vast 285 degrees, while us humans only have 180 degrees of visibility. Also, their eyeballs only require 1/6 the amount of light we need to see comfortably during the night.
Heard about the myth that cats have 9 lives? Well, it could be true. The oldest domestic cat is known to have lived three days after its 38th birthday, which may not seem like a lot, but in terms of human perspective, that's about us living 224 years!! Compared to animals, they have an amazingly keen brain. Scientists have proven that cats can process about 6 million operations per second. Now think when their brain is compared to the processor of an iPad, which can take 170 million operations per second. Considering how much human technology has developed, cats are pretty darn smart for animals, and unlike iPads, cats won't get a brain "freeze"!
My Thoughts
There's just no argument that cats do possess some spectacular traits and abilities that I think humans would definitely crave. Still, I don't know why in the beginning God decided to favor cats over humans, we can only guess. It's obvious that while I may not know how or why cats got their amazing abilities, cats are definitely god-like. That would certainly explain the important role of cats in major ancient civilizations, and why ancient Egyptians practically worshipped them.
